Sunday 24th June 2018 - Adobe Photoshop Training

Adobe Photoshop Training
Presenter:  Christine Nelson

I am an Australian photographer, based in Sydney. For as long as I can remember I have always had a creative interest.

My love of photography began in 2000 when I bought my first SLR camera. I began with film, but really began my creative journey when I went digital. This allowed me to incorporate my creativity into my photography.

My aim with my images is to create images that are artistic and moody in their nature. Textures form a large part of this process. I not only capture textures with my camera, I also often create my own through different mediums. Textures can add character and depth to images.

Using my skills as a qualified teacher by profession,
I now specialise in photography education, including Photoshop and Lightroom education. I have been running workshops since 2011, catering for the Beginner through to the more Advanced user, teaching many students the skills and techniques to quickly improve their photography.

Intermediate Photoshop – Understanding layers

Please do not book this workshop if you do not have a good grasp of the following. These will be revised in the workshop but not covered in depth.

·       A basic understanding of Photoshop Interface, mainly – Tool Panel, Layers Panel.

·       How to save an image.

·       How to open and close images in Photoshop.

·       Able to locate the following tools – Brush tool, Clone tool, Move tool, Foreground/Background colour tool.

·       Know how to locate the Blend Modes in the Layers palette.

·       Some understanding of Masks.

A previous workshop on selections run by Christine for the club was severely limited because some participants did not know the basics.  This resulting in the workshop not being as successful as it could have been due to unnecessary time spent explaining the basics.

The following will be covered

1.     1 Basic techniques

a.     Cloning on a blank layer.

b.     Dodge and Burn on 50% grey layer.

c.     Adding vignette using Levels.

d.     High Pass Sharpening.

  2 Understanding the layer stack

3.     3 Blending modes

4.     4 Adjustment layers and masking

5.     5  Processing steps – adjust brightness, contrast, colour in this order.

6.     5  Working with textures – if time allows.

You must bring a laptop with Photoshop CS5 or higher installed, no Photoshop Elements.  Please ensure you use an external mouse, not the laptop pad.

Cost is $80 which includes lunch, morning and afternoon tea.  Please advise when booking if you have any special dietary requirements (we will try to accommodate this). Lunch will be sandwiches, tea/coffee/cold drinks

Starts at 10:00 am and finishes around 4:00 pm
